6.2 Browsing Events

Events can be browsed from two places: the global Events view in the main navigation, which shows all events across the entire system, and the Events tab on each individual element, which shows only the events for that element and optionally its descendants. Both views share the same layout, controls, and filtering options.

6.2.1 The Global Events View

Click Events in the top navigation bar to open the system-wide events list. This view shows all events across all elements that the current user has permission to access.

Filters

The following filter controls narrow the event list:

  • Show Unacknowledged only: Toggle to show only events that have not been acknowledged
  • Categories: Filter by event category tag
  • Template: Filter by event template
  • Favorites Events: Individual events that have been marked as favorites for quick access. Any event can be added to favorites.
  • Event Filters: Saved filter configurations (see Saved Event Filters below)

6.2.2 Element-Level Events

Each element has its own Events tab showing only the events associated with that element. Navigate to any element in the asset tree and click the Events tab.

A scope toggle controls which events are shown:

  • This element only: Shows events generated by analyses configured on this element
  • Include child elements: Expands the list to include events from all descendant elements in the hierarchy

The include-child-elements option makes it easy to review all operational events for an entire production line or site — simply navigate to the appropriate level in the asset tree.

The element-level events tab has the same filters, columns, and row actions as the global events view. Its toolbar includes all the same controls plus two additional ones specific to this context:

ControlDescription
Generate test event dataCreate a test event on this element for development and validation purposes
Notification RuleOpen the notification rule configuration for this element — see Alerts and Notifications

6.2.3 Saved Event Filters

Event Filters are created by performing an event search and saving the search result under a name. After running a search — using any combination of the available filter controls — save the current search result as a named filter. The saved filter then appears in the Event Filters section of the left sidebar. Clicking it re-runs the same search and restores that result instantly.
